Ruthless criminal activity is met with force from a maverick police officer with a disregard for the rules as he confronts an outbreak of lawlessness.
Vettaiyan Movie Plot:
Athiyan is a police officer in Kanyakumari, known for catching criminals quickly. He is called “Vettaiyan” for his fearless work. Athiyan works with his team and “Battery” Patrick, a former thief who loves Horlicks and is now a police helper and tech expert.
One day, Athiyan gets a complaint from Saranya, a teacher in Pechipaarai. She says that marijuana is being kept in classrooms, causing students to get involved in drugs and disturbing classes. Athiyan and his team follow this tip and arrest a man named Kumaresan, who is making the drugs. They kill him in an encounter, and many people praise them, but the human rights commission starts looking into the case. Justice Sathyadev attends the court hearing, and the court rules that the encounter was justified. After this, Saranya becomes close to Athiyan’s family but is soon transferred to Chennai.
Sadly, Saranya is raped and killed at her new school. Her body is found in the water tank on the school’s terrace. SP Harish Kumar and ASP Roopa Kiran lead the investigation and discover that a software engineer named Guna, who is the brother of a student at Saranya’s school, is the suspect. They believe Guna committed the crime because of his addiction to watching bad content online. Teachers across the state protest, demanding that Guna be arrested and that Saranya gets justice. Guna manages to escape from the hospital, so the police call Athiyan to catch him. Athiyan finds Guna at sea and kills him in an encounter.
While the public praises Athiyan for this, Justice Sathyadev reveals that Guna was in another city, Hyderabad, during the crime, proving that Guna was innocent. Feeling terrible about his mistake, Athiyan reopens the case with Patrick, Roopa, and Harish. Together, they find new clues that were missed in the original investigation.
